Locating a place تحديد الموقع

Egypt is in North Africa.تقعُ مصرُ في شمالِ أفريقيا.
Scotland lies north of England.تقعُ اسكتلندا إلى الشمالِ من إنجلترا.
The city is in the north of the country.المدينةُ في شمالِ البلد.

Two patterns

في شمال أفريقيا means "in North Africa" — inside it. إلى الشمال من means "to the north of" — outside it. The exam tests the difference.«في شمال» داخل المكان، و«إلى الشمال من» خارجه.
