وظيفة is a post or a job; مهنة is a career or profession. The exam uses both, often in the same text.«وظيفة» للمنصب، و«مهنة» للمسار المهني، ويردان معًا كثيرًا.

The difference

وظيفة is the position you hold; مهنة is what you are trained to do. A doctor's مهنة is medicine; their وظيفة is at a particular hospital.«الوظيفة» المنصب، و«المهنة» ما تدرَّبت عليه.
