asmāʾ al-ishāra
Pointing words. In a shop you need them constantly — "this shirt", "these shoes", "how much is this?"أسماء الإشارة لازمةٌ في المتجر: هذا القميص، كم ثمن هذا؟

هذا القميص = "this shirt" (a phrase). هذا قميص = "this is a shirt" (a sentence). The الـ decides which you have said.«هذا القميصُ» وصف، و«هذا قميصٌ» جملة.
هذا for masculine, هذه for feminine — matching the noun, exactly like an adjective: هذا القميص, هذه الحقيبة.يطابق اسمُ الإشارة المشارَ إليه: هذا القميص، هذه الحقيبة.
